Red Deer has 77 outdoor skating rinks for public use including 3 ponds, and a speed skating oval. Other Central Alberta communities also maintain free outdoor skating surfaces. Bower Ponds has long been one of the most popular and scenic skating locations in the area and they also have skate rentals. If you prefer to skate indoors, drop in skating is offered at arenas throughout the city.
